Happy New Year!

Hello Dearest Reader,

I hope you had a wonderful holiday and are ready to tackle 2017 with me. Last year was tough for a lot of people. For me, 2016 was a year of big changes. My family and I moved from Wisconsin to Illinois—into a house that wasn’t even finished being built. I took my first writing hiatus ever so I could help get our new home done. Then my sister shard the news that our family was expanding! My nephew was born December 4, 2016.

After the hiatus, I had a hard time getting back into my characters’ heads. The words for Dark Ascension just wouldn’t come out. It was the longest and most frustrating writing block of my career. Dark Heirloom, however, won an award at the BST Magazine Red Carpet Ceremony and then proceeded to reach the Top 50 Bestselling vampire novels at Amazon, where it stayed a bestseller for over six consecutive months! I’m over the moon and so thankful that the Ema series is doing well, but I also feel terrible that Dark Ascension missed its 2016 deadline. The good news is the creative block is finally lifting. The words are (slowly) flowing onto the pages again. Dark Ascension will be published this year, I promise. I want to thank you for your patience and support. Keep emailing and messaging me—bug me about it! I read every email and every social media comment, and every time someone asks about the next book my determination is restored. So keep asking! What are some of your goals, resolutions, or wishes for the new year? Comment below and let me know. Let’s hold each other accountable. :) Xoxo,

J.D. Brown
